Maintenance work involves maintaining and upgrading existing electrical systems and repairing electrical equipment. Majority of electrical technicians are employed in the construction industry and the rest work as maintenance electricians in other industries or are self-employed.

This course is designed for people with no previous professional experience, which includes adults, high school graduates /GED holders, and anyone willing to start their career in electrical skilled trade field.

What an Electrician's Helpers earn?
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the median pay for Electrician's helpers was $13/h-$15/h in 2015 depending of experience and kind of projects (commercial, residential, Est).

Course consists of theoretical and hands-on practical parts.

THEORY
- Introduction to electrical trade.
- Safety techniques.
- Tools and materials of the trade.
- Measurements & measurement devices
- Symbols. Prints reading.
- DC and AC circuits
- Building wiring and troubleshooting

PRACTICE
- Proper use of tools and measuring devices.
- Installation of boxes, switches, receptacles and lighting fixtures.
- Working with conduits, BX and Romex.
- Wiring techniques.

Multiple choice and practical tests will be offered through the course to check student's understanding and knowledge of the topics.
With a few years of experience, our graduates will be able to join electrical unions or apply for the Civil Service positions within NYC MTA, Utility companies.
